Zero Hour! (1957)
One of the first so called disaster movies centers around a plane full of passengers sick from food poisoning and a old army pilot named Ted Striker who is asked to bring it down safely…. but there is just a few problems including bad weather and Ted’s flashbacks from the war.
If anyone has heard this plot before, it is because this is the orignal movie that *Airplane!* spoofed – except this isnt played for laughs.
Zero Hour! is not a great movie, but it is not horrible either – a pretty decent amount of suspense and like most 1950’s movies, suitably overdramatic.
On July 2, 1980, Paramount unveiled in theaters Airplane!, which would eventually become known as one of the great movie comedy satires.
